I am an optometrist, and I was asked to go on a week-long mission trip to Ecuador with Global Health Outreach. I have traveled with this organization before, so I was really excited at the opportunity, and I had the funds saved to go on the trip. However, right after agreeing to serve on the trip, my family had numerous major expenses in our household: the air conditioner broke in the blistering south Texas summer heat, the hot water heater broke, the washing machine broke, and then my mom unexpectedly broke a tooth which required an emergency trip to the dentist. So all the funds I had planned to use for the mission trip were no longer available. A very kind retired physician and his wife had offered to help with a portion of the trip expense, but it still wasn't quite enough to cover the trip cost. I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to go on the trip, but then our trip leader told me about the Upward Twist organization. Through the kindness of this amazing organization, the remaining cost for the trip fee was covered, and I was able to go serve! :)
I brought hundreds of glasses with me of various powers, all my portable optometry equipment, and as many Bibles and Gospel tracts as I could fit into my luggage.
The Lord was so faithful throughout the trip. Each day, dozens of patients were seen for eye exams, the Gospel was shared with every patient, Gospel tracts were given to each patient, and Bibles were given to all the new believers who responded to the invitation and received Christ as their Savior. Each patient's contact information was given to the church hosting us (we held the clinic in the church building), so there could be follow-up and continued discipleship for each patient and new believer.

I am so grateful to Upward Twist for making this endeavor possible; everything that was accomplished in the eye clinic was as though everyone at Upward Twist were the ones doing the work, because I couldn’t have come except for the kindness and generosity of this organization to help me come on this trip.
I praise God for His faithfulness, and I thank Him for this great organization, which is making an eternal impact for Christ by helping to carry out His work all over the world! :)
